Da Hawaiian Kitchen Celebrates Grand Opening on Adams Avenue
The family-run Hawaiian spot marked its new Adams Avenue location with a Kanikapila celebration featuring Huli Huli chicken and live music.

Da Hawaiian Kitchen celebrated the grand opening of its new location at 9842 Adams Avenue in Huntington Beach with a Kanikapila celebration on Saturday, Sept. 26, featuring a Huli Huli chicken pop-up in the parking lot, live music and entertainment.
The restaurant announced the event in social media posts, telling followers that parking would be available across the street at Ocean View High School while its own lot was partially closed for the festivities. A special pop-up appearance from Da Sistah Mary's was also part of the lineup.

The business had teased the grand opening earlier in the month, inviting the community to "come celebrate the Grand Opening of Da Hawaiian Kitchen" with ono food, live music and good vibes at its new location. Reviews posted after the Sept. 26 event described Huli Huli chicken plates served from the parking lot alongside live music, with one reviewer calling the food "always delicious" and praising the ohana atmosphere.
Da Hawaiian Kitchen, owned by Bobby I., specializes in Hawaiian-style food and local plate lunches, according to its business listings. The restaurant was established in 2009 and describes itself as a family-run operation bringing local Hawaiian flavors to Orange County. Its menu centers on plate lunches, with specialties including fresh poke, lomi salmon and fresh poi flown in from Kauai weekly, along with jumbo chicken wings, spam musubi and teri beef.
The opening adds to the Hawaiian food options in Huntington Beach, a cuisine with a steady local following. The restaurant's monthly Huli Huli chicken pop-ups have been a fixture for its regulars, and the grand opening folded that tradition into the celebration.

For the neighborhood around Adams Avenue, the new location puts the restaurant closer to the Ocean View area, with easy parking across the street at the high school lot. The family-run character of the operation, in business since 2009, gives the opening a hometown feel rather than a corporate ribbon-cutting.
One Yelp reviewer who stopped in for the grand opening wrote that the Huli Huli chicken plate, "only available once a month," was "super tender and juicy" with a sauce "to die for." In its grand opening posts, the restaurant emphasized the community that has supported it since 2009, and the Kanikapila format folded its standing monthly Huli Huli tradition into the celebration rather than staging a one-off event.
